The cottages are set on a stream bank on the edge of wild moorland, a natural habitat for such rarebirds as red-throated divers and golden eagles, not to mention otters and red deer, whilst the coastline is great for spotting whales, dolphins, seals porpoises and the many colonies of seabirds. Barvas is ideally positioned for exploring the rich, scenic cultural delights of Lewis and is only 12 miles west of Stornoway, the main shopping centre.

There is excellent surfing along the coast and Barvas Loch provides the ideal spot to enjoy many watersports. With fishing for wild brown trout literally on your doorstep, a salmon loch a stone’s throw away and opportunities for sea angling off the coast, this is a great destination for fishermen and women.
